Adam is an associate in the Media and Entertainment industry group. His practice focuses on advising clients on protection, exploitation, use and enforcement of their and others' intellectual property rights, particularly copyright and related rights.
He regularly advises on copyright issues in a range of industries such as music, publishing, gaming, data aggregation, technology and broadcasting. His copyright expertise includes acting in High Court litigation, on corporate acquisitions and disposals and on advisory work. He has more general intellectual property and media expertise, including acting on High Court trade mark and defamation litigation, trade mark and design right infringements as well as registry proceedings. He also regularly advises on IP licences and commercial agreements.
Adam spent six months on secondment at Visa Europe where he advised on a range of intellectual property, commercial and advertising matters.
He holds first class degrees in law from Oxford (B.A.) and Cambridge (LL.M. specialising in intellectual property and corporate law) Universities, and is a regular contributor to the firm’s thought-leadership campaigns. He has appeared on Radio 5 Live and is often widely quoted in the mainstream and specialist press on high profile copyright and media issues. He contributed to submissions to the Hargreaves Review and the government's Copyright Consultation (being quoted in the government's summary of the responses). He has written articles on intellectual property and media matters for the Journal of Intellectual Property Law and Practice, the Inforrm Media Blog, The Times, Intellectual Property Magazine and the World Sports Law Review.
