Darren has been a solicitor in our Charity & Social Enterprise Team since qualifying with the firm in April 2011.

Darren acts for a large number of charities and social enterprises, advising them on all aspects of law and practice.

Since joining the firm Darren has established and registered numerous charities and has built up particular expertise in advising on incorporations and governance arrangements. He also has a depth of experience negotiating with regulators which recently led to his involvement in a Charity Commission statutory inquiry and to advising Defra on the spin-off of British Waterways. Darren also offers the specialist skills needed to successfully negotiate with local and central government on funding and transfer agreements in relation to hive-offs.

Darren is a member of the Charity Law Association and has played a key part in several CLA working parties, including the Charity Commission’s consultation on the advancement of amateur sport and to the PASC consultation on the implementation and effect of the Charities Act 2006.

Outisde the firm, Darren is a governor of a primary school in Southwark.
