Dion is a corporate lawyer with extensive experience within the Insurance and Financial industry (UK/EU, Lloyd’s of London and many offshore jurisdictions). He is both UK qualified as a solicitor and as an advocate in South Africa where he practiced for 10 years before joining the corporate insurance department of another international UK based law firm in 2002.
As a corporate lawyer he has experience of listings, mergers, acquisitions and disposals, MBOs/MBIs, joint ventures, start ups, private equity transactions, restructuring, cross border transactions and giving general corporate advice for the Lloyd's and the insurance companies market in particular the formation of Lloyd's managing agents and syndicates and the introduction and participation of corporate capital to Lloyd's.
He also has experience in the setting up of alternative capital structures for the (re)insurance market and in particular the Insurance Linked Securities or convergence market and of the drivers that influence the participation of the capital markets at the underwriting level having spent time in industry over the past five years managing a Bermuda based company that specialised in the structuring and servicing of bespoke insurance related entities.
