This is a recently-introduced alternative to the courtroom for separating couples. The process usually begins when you sign a contract binding you to any outcomes of the proceedings. Then, over a series of face-to-face discussions, agreements are ironed out and decided. By its very nature, therefore, collaborative law – which was launched in 2003 – is only really for those separating amicably.
