Employment Tribunal Costs

Up until July 2013 taking your claim to an Employment Tribunal was free. But now there is a new fee structure. The amount you will be charged depends on the type of employment dispute you have, as well as whether or not the claim you issue proceeds to a hearing.

The table below shows the basic fee structure:

Type of case *

Claim fee

Hearing fee

Unpaid wages

Redundancy pay

Breach of contract

Unfair dismissal

Equal pay

 How to claim

  • you can apply online to bring your claim before an Employment Tribunal
  • or by cheque/postal order sent to the one of the two addresses below, depending on where in the UK you work:

England and Wales:

Employment Tribunal Central Office

PO Box 10218

Employment Tribunals Central Office

PO Box 27105

G2 9JR

When applying by post, as well as paying your fee by cheque or postal order, you will need to send in a completed claim form.
