I specialise in dealing with professional negligence claims. I resolve claims for a wide range of professionals, with a particular emphasis on claims against lawyers (including lender litigation), independent financial advisers, brokers and surveyors. I have also undertaken a six month secondment with a London market insurer as a PI claims adjuster, during which time I dealt with a variety of professional indemnity claims and policy coverage issues and gained invaluable experience and insight into the insurance market.

I particularly enjoy the variety in the claims I handle and the challenge of ensuring that the high standards set by our insurer and professional clients are not only met, but exceeded. I also enjoy the challenge of tackling difficult issues while always seeking to adopt a balanced, pragmatic and commercial approach to ensure that claims are resolved in accordance with my clients’ aims and objectives, whether this is by early negotiated resolution, or a full exploration of the issues at trial.

A good example is a case where we suggested a time controlled without prejudice meeting. Prior to the meeting we focused on strengthening our client’s position by highlighting the deficiencies of our co-defendant and in reducing the claimant’s expectations. At the meeting, we adopted a robust position and the co-defendants agreed to settle with the claimant, with no contribution by our client. It goes without saying that both our professional and insurer clients were extremely pleased with the outcome!

Clients tell me that I am "client friendly" and approachable, but that I back this up by providing a high level of service and well reasoned, concise and commercial advice.
