AccessSolicitor.com recognised as a legal industry pioneer

ACCESSSOLICITOR.COM, an online legal directory of more than 15,000 lawyers, has today been shortlisted as a Legal Industry Pioneer from over 500 applicants from across Europe in the FT Innovative Lawyer Awards 2014.

As further evidence of its growing recognition for legal sector innovation, AccessSolicitor.com, was also the only LegalTech business invited to endorse the Startup Manifesto of the Coalition for the Digital Economy (COADEC) ahead of its launch today, alongside a distinguished list of start-up founders and investors from: King, TransferWise, SwiftKey, Lovestruck, Funding Circle, MOO, Index Ventures, Passion Capital, Seedcamp, Accel Partners and others.

AccessSolicitor.com was launched in August 2013 with the aim to make it as easy as possible for consumers and small business owners to find the right lawyer for their needs, whilst simultaneously providing law firms a lower effort, lower cost and lower risk alternative to expensive digital consultants to reach clients who are increasingly searching online. Access Solicitor is also developing a unique algorithm with Westminster University to optimize the lawyer/client match through the site.

AccessSolicitor.com’s founder and chief executive Warren Smith says: “Endorsing COADEC’s start-up manifesto was easy, particularly its recommendations on bringing laws and regulations into the 21st Century and using digital government to unlock innovation. The legal marketplace is undergoing significant and permanent change, and it is a privilege to be recognised by such a prestigious publication as the FT for our small part in helping lawyers to navigate that transition whilst also improving access to justice for clients.”

About the FT Innovation Awards

Now in its ninth year of publication, the FT Innovative Lawyers Report has become one of the top legal rankings in Europe and the accompanying awards are widely regarded as the best researched in the market. It presents a unique analysis of the legal industry and is the only ranking of lawyers by innovation.

About COADEC

Founded by tech entrepreneurs, The Coalition for a Digital Economy (COADEC) is a non-profit that campaigns for policies to support digital start-ups in the UK. We conduct research, host events, and run campaigns on behalf of the UK’s start-up community. Digital start-ups matter to the UK – they are an important source of innovation, jobs and growth. The UK’s digital economy is the fastest growing in the G20 and already makes up over 8% of GDP. With 9 months to go until the next General Election, the Start-up Manifesto sets out 24 recommendations for how the next government should support digital start-ups, including on issues of access to finance and access to talent. It also has some new ideas on things like making it explicit government policy to support disruptive innovation.
