Having been a partner with the firm for over 30 years, Peter has developed a reputation for giving pragmatic business advice. He is responsible for the firms Company and Commercial department and leads the food team.
Peter’s particular expertise is in relation to the food chain and he has an extensive contact base within the fresh produce and chilled sector on which to call and with which he helps clients who face particular issues or opportunities.
Dealing at the most senior levels within organisations, he is often called upon to give his view on strategic issues as well as legal advice. His ability to consider the whole food chain, from growers to logistics and distribution makes him a valued adviser.
His food experience covers a range of areas including company sales, mergers and restructures; intellectual property issues for food products; contracts and agreements ; contract disputes,; product licensing; business rescue and insolvency; debt recovery; employment issues; product recalls. Naturally this work includes and international element and he regularly deals with cross border work for food clients.
In addition to his food and commercial contract expertise he deals with employment disputes, usually acting for employers throughout unfair and wrongful dismissal claims, race, sex and disability claims and equal pay issues. Having particular expertise with commercial agents, Peter also deals with TUPE issues, executive severances, the drafting and enforcing of special arrangements for senior executives (including financial benefits and restrictive covenants), and drafting of terms and conditions of employment.
