Peter qualified and practised with Eversheds, before moving to Baker & McKenzie. He joined Shoosmiths in 2005, becoming a partner the following year. His style is recognised as being extremely commercial and pragmatic in assisting clients reach their aims. His understanding of client’s issues is assisted by him having spent 12 months on secondment with a leading international airline and a shorter period at a leading media company.
Peter is an experienced employment lawyer and also national head of the firm's Commercial Practice Group. He advises predominantly corporate clients on all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law and has extensive experience from large-scale business re-organisations and transactions to general counsel advice on every day employment issues. Peter combines his commercial legal advice with HR experience for clients in a wide variety of sectors, but with a particular focus on service companies, IT/telecommunications, manufacturing, aviation and media.
Peter provides in-house training on employment law/practices/procedures to clients/HR managers and is a regular speaker at internal and external seminars and workshops. He was a contributing author for Tolleys looseleaf publication Termination of Employment.
