Rebecca is a Partner in our Financial Services team.
Rebecca has first-hand experience of the challenges facing the financial services industry. She headed up the Litigation and Regulatory team of a major Bank for one year on a secondment basis handling all types of consumer claims. More recently, Rebecca has conducted two secondments with a major Building Society, assisting the Legal team with PPI mis-selling issues and working with the Compliance team on retail conduct matters.
A key part of Rebecca’s role is “horizon scanning”, identifying new trend areas in consumer finance claims and providing strategic advice on how to tackle those trends, particularly those pursued by Claims Management Companies. She also helps clients lobby the Ministry of Justice for change and tighter regulation.
Rebecca has advised numerous clients on the issues surrounding the increasing volumes of mis-selling claims and FOS complaints, including how to comply with the FCA’s root cause analysis requirements and non-complainant redress exercises. Rebecca also played a lead role in handling a mass scale review of a Bank’s interest rate hedging products project, managing the investigation into approximately 3000 sales to non-sophisticated SME customers and reporting on the outcome to the FCA. All aspects of Eversheds’ investigations were subject to the scrutiny of the FCA’s Skilled Person.
