Richard is a Partner and Solicitor Advocate in our Financial Services Dispute Resolution Department. He heads the group's non standard recoveries litigation unit and specialises in finance litigation acting for lenders involved in the secured and unsecured loan market. Richard divides his time heading the defended team in our centre of excellence in Cardiff and, growing the Edinburgh Financial Services Dispute Resolution team.
Richard’s recent experience includes working for the UK's largest residential lenders dealing with high value and/or complex recovery litigation, involving a wide range of issues such as fraud, third party interests, injunctions and Judicial Review. Richard has been involved throughout on the Sale and Rent Back test case litigation currently proceeding in the Supreme Court.
Other notable experience includes tripartite Consumer Credit Act claims, third party property rights, forfeiture and Law of Property Act Receivers. He and his team have acted for a number of lenders advising on and defending mass consumer litigation which challenges the fees and charges levied by lenders.
Richard has worked in-house on a seconded basis for GE Capital and Royal Bank of Scotland and he regularly provides training for a number of UK Lenders and industry bodies on the litigation process, risks facing the lending industry and best practice
