Personal Profile
Simon Cohen is head of Taylor Wessing's UK Patents group. He has been a partner at Taylor Wessing since 1996.
Simon obtained a BSc in Biochemistry and Genetics from London University and a Diploma in Intellectual Property Law, also from London University.
He specializes in contentious patent work in a variety of industries, but particularly in life sciences, and also does pharmaceutical regulatory work. He advises pharmaceutical clients in relation to patent infringement and validity, launch strategy, preliminary injunction applications etc. and represents clients in the Patents Court, the Court of Appeal and at the European Patent Office. He also regularly co-operates with lawyers conducting parallel litigation in the US and other European jurisdictions.
Simon lectures and writes regularly and is also the UK correspondent of the Bioscience Law Review and the UK Contributor to Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology and Chemical Inventions: world protection, exploitation and enforcement, published by Oxford University Press, April 2011. Simon is regularly listed in Legal 500 and Chambers. In IAM's The World’s Leading Patent Practitioners 2012, Simon is described as ""an impressive and tenacious litigator"".
