Personal Profile
I am an insurance litigator and specialise in defending professional negligence claims against a wide variety of professionals including accountants, brokers, financial advisers, lawyers and surveyors. I also advise primary and excess layers on policy coverage (generally high value and complex matters). My experience has been broadened through a six-month secondment as a claims adjuster at a leading insurer.
I also act for London market insurers that have insured clients based in France. I am of dual English and French nationality and liaise directly with French lawyers and loss adjusters.
On the reinsurance side, I effect and defend recoveries against reinsurers, provide advice on discrete issues in the run-off market and advise on commutation wordings.
I am focused on delivering clear advice that is effective against opponents and am sensitive to each client’s drivers (whether it be the protection of their reputation, the avoidance of a floodgate of claims, or the desire to resolve matters without damaging a relationship with another party). I am also seen as a "safe pair of hands" when considering complex and technical issues, at the same time as identifying practical and commercial solutions that go beyond the obvious.
On the reinsurance side, I have produced tailor-made precedent agreements covering all permutations of commutation, allowing my clients to manage a large volume of commutations cost effectively and with minimal involvement from external advisers.
